Update of the release of SRI for DepEd employees

Update of the release of SRI for DepEd employees

The Department of Education (DepEd) on December 23 provided an update on the release of Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) for DepEd Employees.

DepEd Undersecretary Annalyn M. Sevilla in her Facebook post said that Deped Central Office is coordinating with Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to use “pooled balance of funds” of the entire agency for the release of said SRI.

"DepEd central office is coordinating with DBM to use “pooled balance of funds” of the entire DepEd that we can share for all eligible deped employees. Let’s wait for this, it will take time to consolidate all our balances but our Sec. Liling Briones has given instruction to find options to grant SRI," said Usec. Sevilla in her post.

Sevilla also explained that the source of SRI is unlike last year that DBM released the funds for the 7k and the remaining 3k from to the savings or balance of funds of the department.

"Unlike last year’s SRI, DBM released the funds for the 7k and the 3k is chargeable to the savings or balance of funds of the department. The SRI for 2020 of 10k is now chargeable to available balance of the DepEd . Hence we need to consolidate all our savings/balances first before we can determine if we can give full 10k or a proportionate amount for all eligible DepEd employees," said Sevilla.

"I need all Deped finance officers to update and submit all data on balances of funds to DepEd CO so we can request DBM to use balances of other schools, SDOs, ROs and CO for others without savings/balances," Sevilla said.

"DepEd  Finance teams need all of you to be patient and considerate that we are all doing this for the benefit and welfare of ALL DepEd employees," Sevilla said.

"As to the COS and JOs, last year there was a separate AO granting additional incentive for them (same as SRI for regular employees), let us wait from our PRRD and OP if there will be the same issuance," Usec. Sevilla added.

"Thank you for all your comments and feedback. Have a safe and meaningful CHRISTmas... we should be thankful that we have each other, our families, we have work, and we are able to contribute to our learners and our nation," Usec. Sevilla ended.
