End of Google Meet Record Feature for DepEd Accounts with Gopgle Workspace

END OF GOOGLE MEET RECORD FEATURE FOR DEPED ACCOUNTS WITH GOOGLE WORKSPACE

The Department of Education (DepEd) is currently using Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals, which is the free (gratis) version of Google Workspace. This includes Google Meet, one of DepEd's two official video conferencing platforms (alongside Microsoft Teams). In this connection, the Office of the Undersecretary for Administration (OUA) through the Information and Communications Technology Service (ICTS) announces that beginning 10 January 2022, the feature for recording Meet sessions will no longer be available to the users of Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals, including DepEd account holders.

The rollout for the deprecation of Meet's record feature will take two to three weeks to complete, so some personnel and learners using DepEd accounts might still be able to record meetings until early February 2022. Recording of meetings held before the end of Meet's record feature will remain in the meeting host's Google Drive until the file owner deletes them. Those who wish to record meetings may use Microsoft Teams instead.
