Approved budget assures more bonuses, allowance, increase for teachers
President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday signed into law the proposed P3.7-trillion General Appropriation Act. (GAA) FY 2019.
Of the P3.7 trillion National Budget, Education continues to receive the highest allocation with a total budget of P659.3 billion, up by P72.2 billion, or by 12.3 percent, from its cash-based equivalent of P587.1 billion in 2018.
DepEd official gave an assurance that their personnel can expect more bonuses and higher allowance by 2019.
“Deped Official said the agency has worked hard to implement an increase in the allowances and the benefits stated in the Magna Carta for Teachers and other personnel. The agency already made a move to increase the chalk allowance from P3,500 to P5,000 in 2019.”
“In fact, there will be more increases in 2019. DepEd said they are already working on several financial benefits for their teaching and non-teaching staff. “
